Job Introduction
We are looking for a friendly, flexible, and professional Learning Support Assistant to join our supportive and welcoming team at the Fryern Federation of Infant and Junior Schools in Chandlers Ford. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with children who have a range of complex needs, including developmental, sensory, communication, and social-emotional challenges.
As an LSA, you will work under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo to:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to children including children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Support children both in class and through tailored intervention sessions
- Assist pupils with personal care, mobility, communication, and emotional regulation as needed
- Foster positive, trusting relationships and promote independence
- Record observations and contribute to regular feedback and progress tracking
- Collaborate with teaching staff, specialists and families to ensure every child receives the right support
- Support during lunchtimes as part of the wider pastoral care of the children
Experience supporting children in an educational setting is desirable, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in working with children with complex and additional needs
- Can stay calm and positive under pressure
- Is flexible, patient, empathetic and reliable
- Is a strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality
- Can use initiative and follow direction confidently
- Ideally has experience working in a school or care setting (although full training will be provided)
- Holds GCSEs (Grade C/Level 4 or above) in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications
Is willing to undertake training in first aid and medical support if needed
