Support Learning. Enable Progress. Make Every Day Count.
Henry Tyndale School is a successful and expanding special school for pupils aged 2–19 with a broad range of complex learning needs. We are looking for a skilled, enthusiastic and solution-focused Learning Support Assistant to join our team and help deliver high-quality, individualised learning across our multi-site provision.
This role aligns with the Hampshire Grade C job profile – ideal for someone confident in delivering elements of planned learning, working with limited supervision, and committed to making learning accessible and meaningful for all pupils.
Your Role Will Include:
- Supporting pupils across all areas of learning, including communication, independence, emotional regulation, and physical development.
- Delivering pre-planned learning activities in 1:1, small group, or whole-class settings, under the guidance of the class teacher.
- Using specialist strategies and resources (e.g. visual supports, AAC, sensory tools) to ensure access to learning.
- Assisting with EHCP-linked provision, recording progress and feeding back to the class teacher.
- Promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils to manage emotional or sensory needs calmly and safely.
- Providing support with personal care, mobility and medical needs, where necessary.
- Using initiative to adjust activities and support in response to pupils’ changing needs.
- Participating in regular professional development and contributing to the wider school team.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Has relevant experience working with children or young people with SEND, or is eager to develop this specialism.
- Is confident, reliable and adaptable – able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Shows initiative, emotional resilience, and a calm, solution-focused approach.
- Is keen to develop further – open to new learning, training, and reflective practice.
- Communicates effectively and builds strong relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- Has (or is willing to work towards) relevant training, including safeguarding, manual handling, and medical needs.
Why Join Henry Tyndale?
- A supportive, values-driven SEND school with a strong culture of teamwork and inclusion.
- Excellent CPD opportunities, including specialist training in communication, sensory integration, and positive behaviour support.
- Clear progression pathways for those interested in roles such as HLTA, therapy support or specialist communication roles.
- A chance to make a meaningful difference every day – in a school that celebrates progress in all its forms.
