Job Introduction
We are looking for a lunchtime assistant / play leader to work with our existing team to support pupils in the enjoyment of their lunchtime.
The successful candidate will:
- Have an understanding and awareness of child behaviour.
- Have high expectations of children's behaviour.
- Be proactive and promote 'positive play'.
- Actively engage with children to ensure playtimes are enjoyable.
- Be able to work well with others, under guidance, and show own initiative.
- Be a good communicator, great team player and have a good sense of humour.
- Have an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
- Experience of OPAL would be an advantage but not essential
Duties will include:
- Assisting pupils with food consumption - i.e. opening cartons, cutting food for the children.
- Encouraging healthy eating.
- Ensuring ill or injured children receive appropriate medical attention.
- Promotion of 'positive play'.
- Supervision of pupils to ensure their safety.
- Building positive relationships with the children.
