Lunchtime Assistant / Play Leader

Job Introduction

We are looking for a lunchtime assistant / play leader to work with our existing team to support pupils in the enjoyment of their lunchtime.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have an understanding and awareness of child behaviour.
  • Have high expectations of children's behaviour.
  • Be proactive and promote 'positive play'.
  • Actively engage with children to ensure playtimes are enjoyable.
  • Be able to work well with others, under guidance, and show own initiative.
  • Be a good communicator, great team player and have a good sense of humour.
  • Have an understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures.
  • Experience of OPAL would be an advantage but not essential 

Duties will include:

  • Assisting pupils with food consumption - i.e. opening cartons, cutting food for the children.
  • Encouraging healthy eating.
  • Ensuring ill or injured children receive appropriate medical attention.
  • Promotion of 'positive play'.
  • Supervision of pupils to ensure their safety.
  • Building positive relationships with the children.
