Pay - Grade A, £24,225 - £24,415 FTE, Actual £5,601 - £5,645

Hours – 7.5 hours per week, 11:45am – 1:15pm Mon-Fri, term time only

Contract – Permanent

Purpose of the Role

To supervise pupils during the lunchtime period, ensuring their safety, wellbeing and positive behaviour in the dining hall and playground.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up the dining hall before lunch, including laying and preparing tables.
  • Supervise pupils during lunch breaks, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Encourage good behaviour, social interaction and safe play.
  • Assist pupils in the dining hall and promote good table manners.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming dining environment.
  • Wipe and reset tables between sittings to ensure the dining hall is ready for the next group of pupils.
  • Clean and tidy tables and dining areas at the end of the lunch service.
  • Deal with minor incidents and report any concerns to the appropriate staff member.
  • Follow safeguarding, health and safety, and school policies at all times.
  • Support the welfare and inclusion of all pupils.

 

Person Specification 

Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively with children and adults.
  • Ability to supervise groups of children calmly and confidently.
  • Ability to carry out basic cleaning and preparation duties within the dining hall.
  • Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
  • Caring, patient and approachable.
  • Understanding of the importance of safeguarding and child welfare.
  • Commitment to promoting positive behaviour and inclusion.

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children in a school, childcare or voluntary setting.
  • Experience in a catering, hospitality or dining environment.
  • Basic First Aid qualification.
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs.
