Job Introduction
Queen Mary’s College is seeking to appoint a Management Support Administrator who is conscientious and keen to work closely with students in a dynamic educational environment. QMC is set on a beautiful multi-use site in the heart of Basingstoke, covering approximately 23 acres. Its educational facilities cater for approximately 2,100 16-18-year olds.
The site ranges from modern teaching facilities built in the last few years to refurbished buildings that were original to the Shrubbery School which was first established in the 1950s. The College operates QM Leisure; a commercial theatre, Central Studio, Sports Centre as well as in-house catering. The Management Support Team (MST) provides liaison for the Senior Leadership Team, Directors of Learning, teaching and administration teams, with students and their parents/guardians.
A vacancy has arisen due to a long-serving member of the Team retiring. If you are a ‘can-do’ person with excellent organisational and communication skills and an appropriate sense of humour you will find this role involved and rewarding.
The ideal candidate will be experienced in administration and adept at dealing with people in a sensitive and caring manner. This role presents an excellent opportunity to work with young people and educational professionals to support students with their learning and to develop skills vital to their success.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Accountable to: Caroline Watson, Assistant Principal, Organisational Support
Purpose of the Job: To support staff and students through liaison between students and their parents/guardians/carers and the wider college teams
Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Verbal and written communications with staff, students and parents to support all aspects of effective monitoring and interventions for learning, wellbeing and safeguarding
- Support for Senior Leadership Team, particularly curriculum leads
- Support for Directors of Learning – organisations, diary, communications and event management
- Support interventions associated with attendance
- Diary management
- Course changes
- Signposting and liaison with other support services in the support of individuals and groups of students
- Working confidentially and updating in-house systems to ensure students are supported appropriately
- Support for the work of all MST and Help Desk members
- To undertake all compulsory training and to participate in Inset Days, as appropriate
- Other duties as may be reasonably expected commensurate with the responsibilities of the post
- To ensure Safeguarding commitments are promoted, upheld and followed by all
- To protect the Senior Leadership Team, and College, against failures of administration or communication.

Contractual Information
Salary: | Sixth Form College Support Staff Pay Scale 11 based on a full-time is £26,097 per annum. Currently £13.53 per hour, for an exact salary calculation please contact HR.

Conditions of Service: | Sixth Form College Support Staff, fixed term contract. Staff are entitled to the benefits of the nationally agreed sickness and maternity leave schemes.

Start date: | As soon as possible.

Working hours:
| 25 hours a week, 5 hours a day, Monday to Friday 9am – 2pm. With an expectation to work Open Evenings and at other related marketing events.
|
Annual Leave:
| All leave is to be taken outside of term-time. Holiday entitlement including bank holidays is paid in salary.

Other Terms and Conditions of service: | The College offers the Local Government Pension Scheme and contributes a monthly sum equivalent to 19.1% of your salary, whilst staff contribute 5.8%.
All College staff are required to apply for a DBS Disclosure Employment will be conditional upon a satisfactory Disclosure, references and a six-month probationary period. |
