Job Introduction
Shepherds Down Special School is a primary school for children with learning difficulties, currently with 196 children on roll, rising to 209 in September 2026
We require an enthusiastic, creative and highly effective teacher who has special school experience, to teach in one of our mixed needs classes for September. This post will come with a TLR2 allowance to take responsibility for day to day practicalities within the mixed needs classes.
In this role you will be expected to
Take the lead in planning and resourcing the topic learning for the mixed needs classes each half term and communicate that plan out to classes
Take responsibility for day to day practicalities within their phase e.g. class playtime rotas

The TLR will attract 3.25 hours (FTE) non contact time per week.
Experience & knowledge of children with a range of special educational needs would be ideal but not essential. Alongside a love of children, keen interest and a willingness to learn about children with a range of learning difficulties, ability to think outside the box, a high level of resilience and commitment to making a difference.
