Job Introduction
We are seeking a passionate and committed Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Teacher to join our team at Yarrow Heights School on a maternity cover basis. This role offers flexibility and can be offered on either a full-time or part-time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to deliver engaging and meaningful language lessons to pupils with special educational needs, supporting them to build confidence, communication skills and a love of learning. The ability to teach Spanish to KS4 is essential.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering differentiated lessons tailored to meet the individual needs of pupils with ASC and associated needs. Working closely with colleagues, you will contribute to a supportive and structured learning environment that promotes positive behaviour, engagement and progress.
This role would suit a creative and adaptable practitioner who is able to build strong relationships with pupils and is committed to making a positive impact on their educational journey.
Yarrow Heights School is a mixed 7-19, local authority funded, SEN day school for children, most of who are able learners with an EHCP and a diagnosis with ASC and associated needs.At Yarrow Heights every pupil is valued and treated as an individual and with respect. Role Requirements:
Qualifications:
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Degree in a relevant subject (e.g. Modern Foreign Languages) or equivalent
Experience:
• Experience teaching MFL across Key Stages (experience within SEN settings is desirable)
• Experience of planning and delivering differentiated lessons to meet a range of needs
• Experience supporting pupils with additional needs such as ASC, SEMH or ADHD is advantageous
Skills and Knowledge:
• The ability to teach Spanish to KS4 is essential
• Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate pupils
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs
• A proactive and reflective approach to teaching and learning
