Job Introduction
Are you passionate about inspiring children through music?
We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Music Teacher to join our friendly primary school community on Tuesday afternoon each week. This is an exciting opportunity to nurture a love of music with our Year 4 pupils through whole-class instrumental teaching.
The successful candidate will teach a range of instruments to our three Year 4 classes on rotation during Tuesday afternoons and play an important role in helping children develop confidence, creativity and enjoyment through music. We currently teach the children keyboard, ukulele and recorder (there is scope for this to change if needed), all of which we own as a school.
Each session will also include accompanying classes to our school library, where pupils can exchange and select books to support their reading for pleasure. Library sessions are supported by our school librarian. An additional adult may be able to accompany certain classes, if support is required, throughout the afternoon.
Our tried and tested planning and resources are available to be used and can be followed to support the delivery of these lessons. However, we would also welcome applications from passionate and experienced music educators who would like the freedom to develop and deliver their own inspiring programme of learning.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience teaching music to primary-aged children.
- Can inspire enthusiasm and participation from all learners.
- Is confident leading whole-class instrumental sessions.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a supportive school team.
- Shares our commitment to providing enriching opportunities for every child.
In return, we offer:
- Friendly and enthusiastic pupils.
- A welcoming and supportive staff team.
- Established planning and resources to support teaching.
- The potential for an additional member of staff to be released to support certain classes if required.
- Flexibility for experienced candidates to shape and develop the curriculum if they wish.
Whether you are an experienced instrumental teacher, a music specialist looking for additional teaching opportunities, or a passionate educator keen to share your love of music with children, we would be delighted to hear from you!
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed.
