An unexpected and exciting opportunity has arisen and our Headteacher and Governors are looking to recruit an efficient, friendly, welcoming and approachable Admin Assistant, who will be the window to our school; who enjoys the challenges that a busy primary school office manages every day.  With no two days ever the same, we require someone who has a good sense of humour, has excellent communication, interpersonal and initiative skills; can problem solve and is able to prioritise work to meet deadlines.  If not already, is prepared to become a fully trained first aider and most of all must enjoy working with children.

Duties include working within our busy reception dealing with parents, contractors and other school visitors either face-to-face or by telephone, sharing general office tasks such as the daily recording and monitoring of children’s attendance using Arbor and SCOPay information systems, updating and maintaining children’s records, fulfilling termly milk and fruit orders, compiling and issuing of parent/carer letters, Newsletters and other communication, selling school uniform, photo-copying, caring for the welfare needs of the children as and when they arise and other supporting administrative duties when required.

We are expecting the successful applicant to have good administrative and keyboard skills, be IT literate, possess GCSE Maths and English qualifications; be organised, flexible and be able to work calmly under pressure in a busy, friendly and supportive school office environment.

Experience and knowledge of using Arbor and SCOPay information systems is desirable although not essential as training will be provided for the successful applicant; recent and relevant experience of Microsoft Office is essential.

The post is term time for 16.5 hours per week, on Wednesdays from 12 noon to 3.30pm and 8.30am to 3.30pm Thursday and Friday, working with our Admin Officer who works Monday to Friday from 8.30 to 3.30pm term time.

We are looking forward to appointing the right candidate to join our friendly office team.

Visits to our school are warmly welcomed and strongly encouraged; please contact Julie Jolliffe on 023 9248 4545 or by emailing adminoffice@sharpscopse.hants.sch.uk for a job description and recruitment pack.  In-line with HCC's safeguarding advice and guidance, CV's cannot be accepted.

We and Hampshire County Council are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. All successful candidates will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
