Job/Person Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to work as a Pastoral Support Leader with Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) responsibilities in our wonderful school community.

This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of our pupils, supporting their emotional wellbeing and academic success in a nurturing environment, rated Outstanding.
 

This role is from 9am to 3pm, with breaks across the day. The role also involves a separate contract for Lunchtime Supervision within this time. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored emotional literacy support as part of your ELSA duties.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, families, colleagues and outside agencies.
  • Provide pastoral care and early intervention strategies to promote wellbeing and resilience.
  • Work closely with teachers to support learning in the classroom.
  • Promote positive pupil engagement and behaviour.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive and caring school environment.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children in an educational or care setting.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is calm, patient and empathetic in supporting children with emotional needs.
  • Is organised, professional and a strong team player.
  • Ideally has experience in a Teaching Assistant role.
  • Holds (or is willing to complete) ELSA training or equivalent.
  • Has experience of safeguarding and willing to train as a DSL. 
  • Is able to undertake lunchtime supervisory duties
