Residential Child Care Worker

Job Introduction

Lakeside School is an Outstanding day and residential special school for 97, 10-16 year old boys with a range of needs, including challenging behaviour, ADHD and Autism.  Are you a positive, energetic, resilient and patient person looking to make a real difference to the education of our pupils?  Our residential unit has places for up to 20 pupils who can reside from Monday to Thursday evening.


Lakeside School residential unit is a specialist, secure residential home looking after children in a safe, secure and therapeutic environment.


We are looking to recruit a Residential Child Care Worker to cover maternity leave, the working hours can be discussed at interview but could include 1-2 sleep ins.  This contract is due for review in December 2026.


This is an incredibly rewarding and fulfilling role where you can help children alongside an exceptional team of dedicated and supportive staff, working together to provide a stimulating and caring environment.


Your focus will be to act as a role model to our children, forming positive, trusting relationships that enable them to feel safe and cared for.  This is an opportunity to engage in fun activities that interest both the children and the staff.  You will need to have a level of resilience, empathy and understanding, with the ability to be consistent, kind and respectful, even in the face of challenging behaviour.


Lakeside received an Outstanding rating from OFSTED for its residential setting in October 2024.
