Job/Person Summary

The Hayling College is looking to appoint a full-time, highly skilled, motivated SENDCO. Applicants should hold the appropriate qualification or undertake this if they be appointed. 

You would join our Pastoral Team to create individualised and targeted programmes to support, engage, inspire and challenge young people who present with a spectrum of needs. 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed SENDCO who is an outstanding practitioner in their field. Candidates will be committed to the learning and development of our pupils and have the strategic overview of the academic and pastoral outcomes of learners with SEND. You will also be responsible for ensuring that children with SEND have access to a rich, broad and balanced curriculum, which is inclusive of their needs. You will support the training for all teaching and support staff, to ensure appropriate provision is in place for learners with SEND in both interventions and in the classroom

 What skills and experience we are looking for

  • Must have qualified teacher status
  • Be committed to providing the highest standards of provision for SEND pupils
  • Be an aspirational practitioner with high expectations and commitment to raising standards
  • Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills with all stakeholders
  • Be highly organised, patient and resilient
  • To be prepared to attend Leadership Team meetings and contribute to the strategic development of the school
  • Experience of using data and data analysis to drive up standards
  • Clear knowledge and experience in all issues arising relating to the safeguarding of children

The child lies at the heart of our practice, and you would be able to demonstrate unconditional positive regard, academic excellence, the highest expectations for the children and yourself, develop a restorative teaching approach to behaviour and possess the dynamism, imagination and skill to work collaboratively at all levels toward improved outcomes for our children.
