Job/Person Summary
The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) at the Federation of Liss Infant & Junior Schools will work closely with the Executive Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher, governors, and colleagues to develop and implement the school's Special Educational and Disability Needs (SEND) policy. The role involves overseeing daily operations of SEND provision, ensuring pupils with SEND achieve their full potential. The SENCO will also act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), providing leadership in safeguarding and inclusion.
Both schools have a Resource Provision unit for children with moderate learning difficulties and the successful candidate will be responsible for developing and promoting the practice within the units.
The Successful Candidate Will Be:
- A qualified teacher with a strong background in SEND and inclusion.
- Knowledgeable about SEND legislation, policies, and best practices.
- An effective leader, capable of strategic planning and implementing SEND provisions.
- Skilled in liaising with local authorities, external agencies, staff, and families.
- Able to analyze and interpret data to improve teaching strategies and pupil outcomes.
- Experienced in writing and managing key documentation such as EHCPs and IEPs.
- Committed to professional development and continuous improvement in SEND education.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to inspire confidence among colleagues and students.
- Capable of providing training and guidance to staff, ensuring high-quality teaching for pupils with SEND.
