We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, skilled and personable individual to join our growing team of dedicated professionals. The school ethos puts the needs of the pupils at the heart of all that we do, including working collaboratively with all staff and families.
Poulner Junior School has been rated as ‘good’ with a report that reads incredibly positively. We are a community school with approximately 275 pupils. The successful candidate would join the school as SEN working alongside an extremely talented team or teachers and TA’s, to support individualised and targeted intervention programmes for our pupils, as well as developing the strategic work to inspire and challenge all pupils as well as developing the strategic work to inspire and challenge all pupils whilst ensuring an inclusive educational experience is available at all times.
The successful candidate will:
- Hold of be willing to study to gain the SENCO accreditation
- Be committed to the learning and development of our pupils
- Have recent classroom experience and be an excellent practitioner
- Support the strategic overview of the academic outcomes of learners with SEND
- Supporting the leadership and pastoral team to ensure a holistic approach
- Be responsible for ensuring that children with SEND have access to a rich, broad and balanced curriculum which is inclusive of their needs
- Oversea the organisation of the teaching assistants, including effective implementation of appropriate support interventions for pupils
- Support the training of all teaching and support staff to ensure appropriate provision is in place for learners with SEND in both interventions and in the classroom
- Have experience of working with children in an educational setting, developing and meeting SEND needs
- Be committed to providing the highest standards of provision for pupils with SEND
- Have a commitment to own professional development
- Be and aspirational practitioner with high expectations and commitment to raising standards
- Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills with all stakeholders
- Be highly organised, patient and resilient
- Experience of using data and data analysis to drive up standards
- Clear knowledge and experience in all issues arising in relation to the safeguarding of children
- Be flexible, positive and proactive

The main aspect of this role will be to lead the professional work as SENCo and SEN support staff, namely through specialist intervention, developing student learning journeys, analysing and monitoring the progress of students and working strategically with the leadership team, support and lead colleagues.
We are a ‘can do’ school. Knowledge of adaptive teaching and executive functioning approaches would be useful
