Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced SENDCo to join our school. Do you thrive on a challenge? Do you want to help the strategic development of the growing SEND needs and provision in our school?

Inclusion sits at the heart of everything we do at Shirley Warren. We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and child focused SENDCo to be the advocate and whole school driving force supporting children with identified SEND needs.

Our inclusive ethos ensures that pupils with SEND access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers, with high-quality support that enables them to thrive. We are also proud to have our home grown specialist on-site SEND provision – The Nest. This nurturing setting offers bespoke support for a small group of children with the highest level of need, helping them to engage meaningfully with their learning. With your help, we would like to expand this provision and introduce a second Nest to the school as well as future specialist projects.

We believe that a SENDCo should not only have a deep understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and legislation but  will also:

~ Have a hands-on approach to providing high quality provision for SEND in the classrooms.

~ Have a direct and visible impact on outcomes for all pupils.

~ Build strong, trusting relationships with the parents and carers.

~ Work closely with external agencies and other SENDCos in our Trust and across the city.

~ Be part of the senior leadership team.

~ Bring creativity and innovation to their practice.

~ Be resilient, organised and calm under pressure.

~ Thrive in a collaborative environment and understand the importance of teamwork.

~ Lead a team of TAs and 1:1 staff.

Does this sound like you? If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of pupils and have the skills to inspire and lead, we would love to hear from you. Visits to the school are actively encouraged. Please contact us via recruitment@shirleywarren.co.uk to arrange a visit and find out more.
