Are you passionate about making a difference in children’s lives? Norman Gate School is seeking a highly organised, proactive and professional Senior Administrative Assistant to join our welcoming and supportive team.

Norman Gate is a specialist primary school and nursery for children with a range of learning needs, including moderate and severe learning difficulties, autism, and ADHD. Our administration team plays a vital role in supporting pupils, families and staff, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the school.

This is an exciting new opportunity for an experienced administrator to take on a role within the school office, combining operational responsibility with dedicated PA support to our Senior Leadership Team (SLT). We are offering a one year fixed contract for this new role which will then be reviewed.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as a professional and welcoming first point of contact for parents, carers, visitors, and external professionals.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the school office, ensuring efficient administrative systems and high standards of service delivery.
  • Work collaboratively as a key member of the administration team.
  • Ensure all communications (emails, letters, reports) are accurate, well-presented and timely.
  • Maintain and update pupil records, files, and databases in line with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Provide confidential and efficient administrative support to the School Leadership Team.
  • Manage diaries, appointments, and meeting schedules effectively.
  • Draft and proofread correspondence and reports on behalf of SLT.
  • Support the coordination of key school priorities, events, and projects.
  • Liaise professionally with external agencies, therapists, and local authority services.
  • Ensure sensitive information is handled with the utmost confidentiality and care.

 

We Are Looking for Someone With:

  • Excellent literacy and written communication skills (essential)
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and school systems
  • Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to remain calm, professional and prioritise effectively in a busy environment
  • A proactive, flexible approach and commitment to inclusive education
  • Experience in an administrative or school environment (desirable)
