This is a physically demanding role that requires a good level of fitness and the ability to work efficiently across a substantial school site. You will spend much of your shift on your feet, moving between different areas of the school, lifting and carrying cleaning equipment, and carrying out a range of cleaning tasks to ensure our facilities remain clean, safe and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

Working hours are 3.30pm to 6.00pm, Monday to Friday, during term time. There will also be opportunities during school holidays to consolidate hours and support our deep-cleaning programme.

You must be:

  • Physically fit and able to meet the demands of cleaning a large school site
  • Comfortable undertaking manual cleaning tasks, including bending, stretching, lifting and prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the school
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Reliable, hardworking and committed to maintaining high standards

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Wiping down surfaces and touch points
  • Vacuuming carpeted areas and mopping hard floors
  • Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately
  • Cleaning toilet and washroom facilities
  • Replenishing cleaning supplies and notifying the Facilities Lead when stocks are running low
  • Ensuring COSHH products and materials are used, stored and secured safely (full training will be provided)

In return, we offer:

  • LGPS pension with significant employer contribution
  • 10% discount on BH Live Active leisure centre membership
  • Wellbeing initiatives, including weekly staff refreshments
  • Option to apply for a 'Blue Light' card for various discounts
  • Annual flu vaccination voucher

If you are looking for an active role where you can make a real difference to the school community and take pride in maintaining a clean and safe environment, we would love to hear from you.
