School Counsellor / Social Worker (Maternity Cover)

Job Introduction

Lakeside School is a maintained local authority day and residential special school for 97 boys aged between 10 and 16 who have social, mental and/or emotional health difficulties.  Many have associated difficulties, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

We are looking to recruit a qualified Social Worker to cover maternity leave.  We require you to have a minimum of two years social work experience and must possess excellent interpersonal skills.  The successful candidate must be able to liaise with families and other professionals together with an experience and awareness of confidentiality, information sharing and data protection.  You will be dealing with a wide range of issues in a busy school environment, supporting pupils and staff.  Some experience of school systems would be an advantage, combined with a commitment to partnership working and the ability to assess pupils needs, analyse information and make safe robust recommendations.  Other areas of responsibility will include safeguarding the pupil absence.
