Science Teacher-Gosport Site

Job Introduction

Teacher of Science

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative teacher at our Gosport site to work alongside existing colleagues to deliver our science curriculum; this role may include teaching at KS3 and delivery of the Biology GCSE. In recent years, we have found that our cohort has changed significantly with pupils coming to The Key with unmet SEN and gaps in their learning at KS2 and KS3 which has impacted their confidence and engagement in mainstream education. We welcome colleagues with KS3/KS4 experience alongside colleagues with KS2 experience who are looking to develop their expertise in this subject area. We also welcome colleagues who can offer science teaching alongside an interest in teaching in other subject areas as we seek to have a flexible curriculum which meets the needs of our cohort.

Applicants will also demonstrate a confident ability to form positive working relationships with young people and will be able to respond effectively to the needs of their pupils. Successful applicants will be expected to design and develop learning sequences which reflect our high aspirations of pupils and promote positive engagement with learning.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated and ambitious colleague who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues but would also welcome the autonomy afforded to our teaching staff to develop their own curriculum in response to emerging pedagogical practices, research and the needs of pupils.

The Key is committed to promoting research informed practice and place the principles of Attachment and Trauma Informed Practice at the core of our provision.  Our provision ensures that pupils are provided with the curriculum and currency that enables our pupils to be successful in life beyond The Key. All teaching staff are expected to engage fully in the wider personal development of our pupils and our relational approach to supporting unproductive behaviours underpins our work.

All aspects of our teaching, learning and progress, along with our wider work with our young people are based on high expectations. We believe every pupil that arrives with us should make progress academically, socially and emotionally.

If you are strong-minded, emotionally resilient and determined to offer a high-quality curriculum, join us in the privilege we enjoy of working with very small groups of pupils, trying to change lives.

Applicants with QTS who have not yet completed their statutory Early Career Teacher (ECT) induction period are not eligible for this position.  Please see the ECT Policy on our school website for more information.
