Science Technician

 

Science Technician - 35 hours per week, 8:00am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday, Term time only (39 weeks).  Grade C Step 1 - Actual Annual Salary of £20,433.12 (which is the equivalent of a full time salary of £25,186).


Deer Park School is a new state of the art seven-form secondary school which opened in September 2021. At present there are just under 1,000 students on roll across Year 7, 8, 9, 10 & 11.  We are part of the RAISE Education Trust which comprises of Deer Park Secondary School, Wildern Secondary School and Boorley Park Primary School.  We will have a PAN of 1050 when full.

About the role:

As a Science Technician at Deer Park, you will play a key role in supporting our dynamic science department and ensuring that students engage in safe, inspiring, and effective practical learning.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment for science experiments, demonstrations, and practical lessons.
  • Organise and coordinate practical activities, ensuring lessons run smoothly and efficiently.
  • Support teaching and learning by assisting staff during practical sessions and contributing to high-quality science education.
  • Maintain, manage, and monitor science equipment and resources, ensuring they are safe, well-organised, and readily available for use.


What we're looking for:

We're seeking a candidate with a genuine passion for science and a commitment to student success. Essential skills and qualifications include:

  • GCSE in Science (A-Level in Science preferred).
  • Good subject knowledge and ICT skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to handle a wide range of tasks and assist in other areas of the school as needed.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and a high level of accuracy.
  • Patience, tact, and diplomacy.
  • A background in Science or previous laboratory experience is highly desirable.
