Job Introduction
Advert for full time SENCO and Inclusion lead – M4 to UPR3 + SEN point depending on experience.
Start date: Start of Summer term 2025 (April 22nd 2025)
Are you a passionate educator with a heart for inclusion and a talent for helping every child flourish?
Do you have a knack for unravelling the mysteries of SEND provision, and a drive to make a tangible difference in children’s lives? If so, Portsdown Primary School wants you! We're on the lookout for an enthusiastic and dedicated Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) and Inclusion Lead to champion our SEND provision. This role is mainly non-teaching and full-time, giving you the chance to focus on what matters most – helping children succeed.
Who are we?
Portsdown Primary is a vibrant, inclusive community, perched on the Portsmouth-Hampshire border, right by QA hospital. Our March 2024 Ofsted inspection rated us ‘Good’ in all categories, acknowledging our commitment to high-quality education and nurturing well-rounded pupils who love to learn.
Who are we looking for?
We want someone who:
- Ideally has experience as a SENCo, either in a substantive or acting role, or has a strong track record of supporting children with SEND.
- Holds the NASENCo qualification – or is willing to complete the NPQ for SENCos within three years (we’ll support you).
- Has led whole-school initiatives beyond subject leadership.
- Has successful teaching experience in the primary phase.
- Believes in the potential of every child and has the determination to help them achieve their very best.
- Loves sharing ideas and working collaboratively in a strong, supportive team.
- Builds positive relationships with families, staff, and external partners.
What’s in it for you?
At Portsdown Primary, we offer more than just a job:
- Incredible children who are curious, kind, and eager to learn.
- A happy school brimming with experienced, supportive colleagues who will make you feel right at home.
- A leadership team and governing body who get it and genuinely care.
- Plenty of opportunities for professional growth, including high-quality SENCo training and support.
- A school culture that values well-being, creativity, and collaboration (because life’s too short for anything less).
- Supportive families who work with us to give their children the very best start.
- A warm, inclusive environment where everyone is welcome.
