Job Introduction
We are looking for a Senior DSL (Non-Teaching) to join our leadership team and take a central role in safeguarding our most vulnerable students. This is not just a job – it’s a chance to make a real difference, shaping the safety culture across our school while leading and inspiring staff.
What You Will Do
Lead the strategic oversight and daily management of all safeguarding and child protection matters.
Be the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns, providing expert guidance to staff and ensuring students are safe and supported.
Develop, implement, and review safeguarding policies, procedures, and training across the school.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with external agencies including Children’s Services, Police, and Health Services.
Champion a culture of vigilance, resilience, and care that permeates every corner of our school.
Who We Are Looking For
Our ideal candidate is:
Highly experienced in safeguarding within an educational setting, with deep knowledge of statutory guidance including Keeping Children Safe in Education.
Skilled at navigating the unique challenges faced by SEMH students and advocating for their needs.
Confident in managing sensitive and complex situations with discretion, resilience, and professionalism.
A natural leader, able to influence others and embed a culture of safeguarding across the school.
Experienced in multi-agency work and confident in case management and record-keeping systems such as MyConcern.

Salary: KGA Band 7, Points 13-16 (£32,061 – £34,804 full time equivalent)
Contract Type: Permanent, 37 hours per week / 52 weeks per year*
*preference is full time but willing to discuss options for the right candidate
