Job Introduction
Vigo Primary School is seeking a reliable, practical and enthusiastic Site Assistant to support the day-to-day maintenance, security and smooth operation of our school site. This is a varied and rewarding role, working closely with the Site Manager to help ensure our facilities remain safe, welcoming and well maintained for pupils, staff and visitors.
The role is for 25 hours per week, worked flexibly across the week to meet the operational needs of the school. The exact working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.
The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly and undertake occasional overtime when required. This is a 52-week-per-year position, providing support during school holidays and covering duties during the Site Manager's annual leave.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with opening and locking the school site as a designated key holder.
- Maintain site security and respond appropriately to security concerns.
- Carry out a range of general maintenance, repair and improvement tasks.
- Report and raise maintenance issues with Hampshire County Council's Term Maintenance service.
- Support grounds contractors and assist in maintaining a clean, tidy and safe site.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and Hampshire County Council policies.
- Monitor and maintain heating, lighting and alarm systems.
- Liaise with and oversee contractors carrying out works on site.
- Conduct regular site inspections and maintain accurate records.
- Order and manage maintenance and cleaning supplies.
- Support school events and activities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Work closely with and report to the Site Manager.
- Prepare halls, meeting rooms and training spaces, including setting up furniture, equipment and refreshments where required.
- Undertake cleaning duties as necessary.
