Site Manager - Grange Junior School

Job Introduction

Grange Junior School are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, high quality, experienced Site Manager to join our team of dedicated staff and wonderful children.  The successful candidate will maintain our school site, buildings and grounds, to the highest possible standard, proactively enhancing our facilities.  They will ensure the school is safe, clean and well maintained for pupils, staff, parents and visitors.  The individual will be practical and able to adapt their skills to the needs of the school and prioritise health, safety and security at all times. Our aim is for this position to start in June 2025, to allow for a handover period with our current site manager.

The ideal candidate will be hard working, dependable, trustworthy, use their own initiative and be flexible in their approach to their duties.  A range of practical and DIY skills are essential to ensure the school is safe and well maintained. Knowledge of health and safety would also be desirable. 

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Understand and adhere to the school’s policies and procedures in relation to child protection and safeguarding
  • Share our school values and ethos
  • Work in a flexible manner for the needs of the children and school
  • Manage the school site, grounds and buildings, working in partnership with the Business Manager.
  • Take responsibility for site security, including acting as primary key holder for emergency call outs.
  • Ensure the school is unlocked and locked daily, carrying out security and safety checks. On some occasions, there may also be a requirement to open and close the school outside core hours.
  • Arrange and supervise contractors on site. Ensuring standards are maintained, with health and safety always being paramount.
  • Manage and co-ordinate school employed cleaners and agency cleaners.
  • Take responsibility for stock control and ordering of cleaning products and maintenance items.
  • Liaise and manage a programme of planned and preventative maintenance, undertaking minor repairs, maintenance, and redecoration within the school and its grounds.
  • Maintain the grounds in a clean and tidy condition, including sweeping car parks, paths, clearing litter, emptying bins, cutting back plant growth.
  • Identify and maintain a record of repairs and report appropriate information to the Headteacher.
  • Monitor and implement all elements of the health and safety policy in accordance with premises requirements, ensuring the safety of the site and people using it at all times.
  • Regularly carry out and record health and safety checks and ensure that health and safety, COSHH and Asbestos legislation is adhered to.
  • Undertake a range of health and safety training and other training relevant to the role.
  • Maintain the 2 school minibuses, ensuring thorough checks before use including fuelling. 
  • Have a good standard of literacy, numeracy and knowledge of IT: the ability to use email is essential
  • Have a high degree of personal pride in their work.

Hours: Term Time: 7am-10.30am and 2.30pm-6pm equal to 35 hours, with flexibility within these hours during holiday periods.

52 week contract

Band: D (£26,918-£29,616), depending on experience
