Job Introduction
Roman Way Primary School is a one-form entry primary school to the North side of Andover, with lovely grounds for our children to enjoy.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, committed and skilled site manager to join our team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring our school site is safe, secure, well maintained and welcoming for our school community.
The successful candidate will need to be hardworking, be able to prioritise workload, work under their own initiative and take pride in the whole school site.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the security of the site as Principal Keyholder, including daily opening and closing of the school
- Manage and undertake routine building maintenance and improvements, including minor repairs and decorating
- Managing contractors on site and overseeing planned maintenance schedules, ensuring best value and outcomes for the school
- Monitoring and maintaining heating, lighting and alarm systems
- Conducting regular site inspections and maintaining accurate records
- Identifying and scheduling works required in school to keep the building and grounds to a high standard
- Ordering maintenance supplies
- Managing waste disposal and recycling arrangements
- Ensuring the site complies with Health and Safety requirements, identifying and reducing risks at all times. Following H&S procedures and maintaining records as required including COSHH/Legionella legislation
- Management of the cleaning contractors, and there is also a cleaning element to the role.
- Having knowledge of good fire safety practice to include record keeping as required
- Responding to the occasional out of hours emergency call out

- Practical skills including DIY, some minor carpentry and plumbing skills

Full training will be provided in addition to a week’s handover with the current Site Manager.
The role is for 27.5 hours per week working on a split shift/straight shift (timings to be agreed in order to meet the requirements of the school with some flexibility). For example,
6.30am–9.30am and then 3.30pm-6pm or
6.45am–9.30am and then 3.15pm–6pm.
This will be a 52 week contract with holidays taken during the school holidays. Holidays are 24 days annual leave (plus bank holidays) rising to 27 days after 5 years. It is a permanent position.
Start date: 19th October
Salary Grade: D grade £28,697 FTE. Pro rata Actual Starting Salary £21,327
