Site Manager

Job Introduction

Are you a dedicated, hands-on professional with a passion for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment in which our children can thrive? We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and friendly person, with a wide range of practical and DIY skills to oversee and manage our wonderful school premises and grounds. As well as managing the cleaning team, the Site Manager is significantly involved in compliance and health and safety, so forms an integral part of ensuring the smooth operation of the school site.

 Main responsibilities will include: 

  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the school buildings and grounds.
  • Being responsible for site security, occasionally working outside normal hours for school events, including out of hours/ emergency call outs, and being the principal key holder.
  • Carrying out health and safety inspections, assessments and compliance checks including Fire safety, COSHH, Legionella, Risk Assessments for the grounds and buildings.
  • Completing maintenance tasks to a high standard.
  • Liaise and manage a programme of planned and preventative maintenance undertaking minor repairs, maintenance, and redecoration.
  • Overseeing the cleaning team and ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Overseeing the work of external contractors, ensuring standards are maintained, with health and safety being always paramount.
  • Have good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Able to keep comprehensive records of tests and checks.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate: - 

  • A flexible, positive, proactive and efficient approach.
  • An ability to work independently, using their own initiative, including prioritising workloads and contributing to the needs of the children and the whole school team.
  • Good basic DIY skills.
  • Established IT skills to enable the use of email, Word/Excel, online information and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills.
