Job Introduction
JOB/PERSON SUMMARY:
- Oversee the management, compliance, safety, and cleanliness of the school site, furnishings, and grounds according to our high standards.
- Act as the primary key holder, ensuring security and operational readiness of the school site, including emergency response coordination.
- Directly manage the cleaning staff, including training, scheduling, and performance reviews. Plus lead training other school staff on safe practices.eg. step ladder usage.
- Plan and execute a schedule of annual maintenance/redecoration and longer term maintenance requirements, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and safety.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations, conduct risk assessments, and oversee audits and inspections.
- Ensure team comply with health and safety requirements, COSHH and satisfactory completion of tasks.
- Monitor and manage site repairs and maintenance, ensuring cost-effective solutions and procurement of necessary supplies. Use SLA where possible for reactive maintenance tasks, report and monitor repairs to HCC Maintenance Team.
- Prepare for and check after any rooms used for lettings or school functions.
- Maintain outside areas and respond to emergencies, urgent requests
- Uphold confidentiality of school information.
- To hold regular site meetings with SBM/HT to report on work in hand and discuss ongoing repairs and cleaning/decoration schedule.
- Assist Fire Safety Officer to include preparation of the Fire Safety Management Plan, staff training and all responsibilities under this role.
- Act as nominated responsible person for Asbestos Register.
- Carry out daily H & S checks of playgrounds, site and play equipment as per monitoring schedule.
- To complete and record all health and safety checks as required by HCC & HSE, use Concerto to update safety checks and track works.
- Monitor contractors on site to ensure H&S requirements are being met.
WE ARE SEEKING A PROFESSIONAL INDIVIDUAL WHO:
- Experience of health and safety protocols and compliance preferable
- Is reliable and flexible and able to prioritise workloads
- Is able to work independently and use own initiative, as well as working well in a team
- Demonstrates good communication skills with a variety of stakeholders
- Can follow the school policies and systems consistently to ensure the safeguarding and safety of our children and site users
- Has a good basic level of practical DIY skills. Previous experience of work in a trade, such as carpentry, plumbing, painting/decorating, would be welcomed but not essential
- Has good ICT knowledge and can apply it to use email, word and database/incident recording systems, Concerto.
