Site Manager

Job Introduction

An opportunity has arisen for a Site Manager to join the team at our friendly and popular Primary School. We are extremely fortunate with the grounds we have and are incredibly proud of our school site. We would love to employ someone who takes great pride in their work and works hard to uphold the cleanliness and condition of our school buildings. We are looking for someone who will be dedicated to keeping up our very high standards. The buildings and grounds are regularly improved for the benefit of the children and school community.


The ideal candidate will be hard working, dependable, trustworthy, use their own initiative and be flexible in their approach to their duties. A range of practical and DIY skills are essential to ensure the school is safe and well maintained. Knowledge of health and safety would be helpful.

We are looking for someone who can:

· Manage the school site, grounds and buildings, working in partnership with the Business Manager.

· Take responsibility for site security, including acting as primary key holder for emergency call outs.

· Ensure the school is unlocked and locked daily, carrying out security and safety checks. On some occasions, there may also be a requirement to open and close the school outside core hours.

· Manage and co-ordinate school employed cleaners and agency cleaners.

· Arrange and supervise contractors on site. Ensuring standards are maintained, with health and safety being always paramount.

· Liaise and manage a programme of planned and preventative maintenance undertaking minor repairs, maintenance, and redecoration.

· Maintain the grounds in a clean and tidy condition, including sweeping car parks, paths, clearing litter, emptying bins, cutting back plant growth.

· Identify and maintain a record of repairs and report appropriate information to the Headteacher.

· Undertake a range of minor repairs and redecoration within the school buildings and grounds.

· Monitor and implement all elements of the health and safety policy in accordance with premises requirements, ensuring the safety of the site and people using it at all times.

· Regularly carry out and record health and safety checks and ensure that health and safety, COSHH and Asbestos legislation is adhered to.

· Take responsibility for stock control and ordering of cleaning products and maintenance items.

· Work in a flexible manner for the needs of the children and school.

· Share our school values and ethos.

· Have a good standard of literacy, numeracy and knowledge of IT.

· Have a high degree of personal pride in their work.

· Undertake a range of health and safety training and other relevant training.

· Understand and adhere to the school’s policies and procedures in relation to child protection and safeguarding

Experience is not necessary as full training will be given.
