Salary Type: Support Staff
Salary Details: Grade D, Step 1 £15,956.88 (FTE £26,918.00)
Hours of work: 25 hours per week, 10.00am – 3.30pm (5 hours per day plus 30 minute lunch break) – 5 hours per day plus 1 additional week during holidays. There may be some flexibility regarding working hours and holiday hours can be compressed.

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and proactive Site Manager to join our team at Glenwood School.
Glenwood School is a Local Authority Special School within the boundary of Hampshire County Council. It provides a secondary education for pupils with an Education Health Care Plan for Special Educational Needs which fall within the moderate learning difficulties range plus some with more severe learning difficulties. This includes pupils with Speech and Language difficulties, social communication difficulties and autism.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in the daily organisation and management of the school site, ensuring that we provide a safe, efficient and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.
This is a busy, hands-on and varied role requiring strong organisational abilities, time management and a proactive attitude.
This role would ideally suit someone with previous site management experience (experience within a school setting would be advantageous but not essential) and a sound knowledge of overseeing maintenance and repair programmes. You will work as an integral part of our site team, responsible for building maintenance, compliance, liaising with contractors and associated administrative duties together with contributing to the school’s longer-term development plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance and repairs: carrying out some repairs/general upkeep and co-ordinating with external contractors for larger projects
- Security management: ensuring that the building is secure and responding to any security incidents, implementing and maintaining security protocols
- Health and safety: promote and manage health and safety across the site, have a good understanding of relevant legislation, procedures and best practices, conduct regular health and safety checks and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies. Report any hazards/unsafe practices and participate in health and safety training.
- Cleaning: ensure that the school is clean, safe and welcoming for staff, pupils and visitors; manage the cleaning team.
- Record keeping: maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, safety checks and inventories. Complete documentation related to repairs, safety incidents and compliance.
- Team management: manage a site assistant, a small team of cleaners and a mini bus driver, providing leadership, support and day-to-day direction.
- Oversee maintenance of two school mini busses
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience in this type of role including experience in team supervising and motivating
- Have knowledge of building maintenance and health and safety regulations
- Have basic technical skills (e.g. carpentry, plumbing)
- Have good communications/interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff, contractors and visitors
- Have the ability to act promptly and address any issues that arise
- Have good organisational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, maintain records and meet deadlines
- Have strong communication and IT skills
- Be flexible, approachable and a positive team player
