“The school is ambitious for pupils to do their best academically. It meets the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and disadvantaged pupils effectively. Staff think carefully about how to make every day successful for every pupil. As a result, pupils achieve well.   

We are looking to appoint an effective SENCo with experience in supporting children with special educational needs to join our successful, friendly team. The successful candidate will hold leadership experience and ambitious drive to ensure that the strategic leadership of SEN continues to grow and flourish.  We are a thriving, small village school with four mixed-year classes on the outskirts of Andover. 

We are looking for a SENCO who:

  • Is passionate and enthusiastic about teaching children, specifically with special educational needs, and preparing them for lifelong learning
  • Is nurturing, patient, resilient and can uphold the school’s vision and values 
  • Has high expectations and a secure understanding of children’s behaviours
  • Is confident and experienced in supporting children across the primary age range (Year R-6)
  • Has excellent organisational and time management skills 
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with parents, teachers, pupils and professionals
  • Holds themselves to and models high professional standards
  • Models an efficient and effective work ethic
  • Is able to monitor, track and analyse progress and data to measure impact of provision and outcomes
  • Holds QTS, NASENCO/NPQSEN 
  • Has an up-to-date understanding of statutory SEN documentation and guidance
  • Is able to contribute in both a strategic and operational capacity to support teachers and work alongside the leadership team and governors.
