Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) Oakwood Infant School (part of Green Oaks Federation)

Job Introduction

The Green Oaks Federation consisting of Oakwood Infant School and Greenfields Junior School is set within the village of Hartley Wintney and is part of a diverse and supportive community.

Working in a Federation provides a unique set of opportunities. Although two separate schools, our curriculum and ethos spans both schools and all staff have the opportunity to work at either site. We believe that learning is a life long journey of discovery and new experiences and we encourage teachers to lead learning that is not only matched accurately to need, but promotes curiosity, excitement and wonder.

Our vision is built on our core value of respect and the need to respect ourselves, each other and our future.

We are seeking a new SENCO at Oakwood Infant School.  Responsible for leading on Inclusion across Early Years and KS1. This is a non-teaching role, working as part of a wider SEN team within our Federation. This role comes with admin support from our dedicated SEN Support worker, and you will work collaboratively with our Inclusion Leader at Greenfields Junior School. This role would suit an experienced teacher who has a proven track record in identifying and supporting children with SEN and who has strong communication and organisational skills.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be an accredited SENCo or be able to work towards accreditation with school support
  • Have an excellent understanding of what inclusion means within the classroom, school and home environment
  • Be able to effectively map provision to a precise diagnosis of pupil need
  • Have a good understanding of the breadth and range of interventions available for pupils and understand how to adapt and personalise provision according to individual need
  • Be able to lead by example and provide mentoring and coaching to teachers and support staff
  • Understand how to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of all pupils
  • Have an excellent understanding of assessment for learning and how to use this to inform provision and teaching
  • Be relationship driven, and able to actively contribute to a school community that reflects the values and ethos of our school
  • Be able to lead others and not be afraid to challenge, advise and support
  • Be able to work in collaboration with others and engage with outside agencies
  • Be committed to their own and others professional development through research, mentoring and coaching

We can offer

  • A school that works in partnership and collaboration with others
  • Association with an outstanding school with an established reputation for excellence within its own community and beyond
  • The opportunity to be part of a research driven Federation that is passionate about teaching and learning
  • An opportunity to work alongside our Inclusion Leader at Oakwood Infant School to share expertise, provide training and offer support to pupils, families and teachers
  • The opportunity to work with highly professional and ambitious people who genuinely believe that every child matters and deserves the best education possible
  • The chance to be part of innovation and excellence
