Job Introduction
St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint a temporary Special Needs Assistant to support a pupil with medical needs and SEND.
We require an enthusiastic Special Needs Assistant to join our friendly and hardworking school. You will be working in collaboration with the SENDCo and class teacher to support the child with an EHCP, (medical needs to be met as well as learning needs).
The post will be full time from 9.00am - 3.30pm, term time only.
Special Needs Assistants play a vital role in enabling our children to achieve their best and we value their contributions. Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate that they are keen to learn, have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, patience, be able to work as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working with children. We appreciate that the experience required to work in a school with children with additional medical needs can be gained from life experiences and / or qualifications. - Puts the needs of the children first when making decisions
- Holds, or is working towards, the NVQ level 3 in Learning support, play work or an equivalent or higher qualification
- Has GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (Grade C/4)
- Is able to work under their own initiative, modifying and adapting activity
- Has experience of working in a Primary School or other setting with children
