Special Needs Assistant

Job Introduction

Are you a positive, friendly and professional person, who would like to join our team and make a difference to children’s learning?

We are seeking to appoint a special person who is enthusiastic, hardworking, caring and dedicated, to join us to work with children with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and with social communication difficulties.

You will need to be flexible, adaptable, resourceful and patient as the role will be varied and demanding but also very rewarding.

Good literacy, numeracy and communication skills along with a commitment to work as part of a team are essential.  Whilst previous experience would be an advantage, we are looking for a person who is able to build good relationships with children.  You will be able to positively manage their behaviour and individual needs and help them access learning in a mainstream environment. Full training will be offered as required by the successful candidate.

We are looking for someone who:

  • relates well to both children and adults and has excellent interpersonal skills 
  • is caring, calm and patient 
  • is able to work as a part of a team, learning with and from other colleagues 
  • enjoys working autonomously and with initiative 
  • is able to work effectively with children to move their learning forward 
  • is highly organised and has good time management skills 
  • is flexible, proactive and resourceful 
  • has excellent communication skills
  • is adaptable 
  • is able to provide written and verbal feedback to the class teacher as required 
  • understands the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding procedures
