Job Introduction

Cliddesden Primary School is a single-form entry school set within the beautiful countryside of the Hampshire Downs approximately three miles from Central Basingstoke. We are an inclusive school with dedicated caring staff and a supportive community committed to high standards in Education.

We are looking to appoint two enthusiastic, passionate and committed Special Needs Learning Support Assistants to join our hardworking and friendly team from 6th January 2025.

The role will involve a blend of working 1-2-1 with a child with specific learning needs, supporting other SEND pupils with interventions and also working as general LSA Classroom Support including lunchtime supervision.

The successful candidates will be expected to:

Role Purpose

  • Working as part of the Learning Support Team under the direction of the SENDCo
  • Working 1:1 with a child with a specific learning need and supporting other pupils with interventions 
  • Supporting the class teachers with differentiated lesson content for the specific child/children
  • Preparing material as necessary under the direction of the class teacher
  • Supporting the class teacher with tracking, assessment and record keeping
  • Following recommendations from external agencies through personal learning plans
  • Attending review meetings where appropriate
  • Contributing to written reports
  • Attending training where necessary
  • 1:1 Lunchtime cover 

 

Essential

  • Experience of working with children within the primary phases and commitment to supporting all children’s learning
  • Experience of working with children with additional needs and using systems to support them
  • Enthusiasm, self-motivation, creativity and ability to use initiative
  • Commitment to working as part of a team in order to plan and deliver a broad curriculum
  • Commitment to supporting pupils to enable them to achieve high standards of learning
  • To be organised, efficient and professional in your approach and have good interpersonal skills
  • To be caring, understanding and patient
  • Have knowledge and experience of Makaton (desirable)
  • Have English and Mathematics GCSE (or equivalent), grade C or above
  • Have trained to at least NVQ level 2 standard or equivalent experience
  • Have good IT skills 
  • Have good behaviour management skills

 

Desirable

  • Experience of working within an educational setting.

Working hours are 23 per week, term time only over either five days (Post 1) or four days to exclude Wednesdays (Post 2) – please state on your application which post you are applying for.
