Joining our supportive and forward-thinking Education and Inclusion Therapy Service as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential. In this rewarding and varied role, you’ll help deliver Hampshire Local Area Partnership's Experts at Hand offer, providing specialist therapeutic expertise for children and young people from early years through to post-16 education.
Working predominantly within mainstream educational settings, you'll collaborate closely with education professionals, families and partner agencies to provide consultation, advice, training and targeted therapeutic input. By building workforce confidence and promoting inclusive practice, you'll help ensure children and young people receive the right support at the right time, reducing barriers to learning and participation and improving outcomes.
As part of a highly skilled team of therapists, you'll have the opportunity to further develop your specialist practice while helping shape innovative approaches to support children and young people across Hampshire. With a term-time only contract, excellent professional development opportunities and a strong culture of clinical supervision and peer support, this role is ideally suited to an experienced Band 6/7 Speech and Language Therapist seeking their next challenge.
What you’ll do:
- Provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy assessments and evidence-based interventions for children and young people.
- Work collaboratively with education staff, families and multi-agency professionals to develop and implement effective, meaningful support plans.
- Deliver specialist Speech and Language Therapy support as part of Hampshire Local Area Partnership's Experts at Hand offer across a range of educational settings and age groups.
- Support capacity-building within schools and educational settings through consultation, training, whole-school communication approaches and policy development.
- Provide clinical and managerial supervision to Speech and Language Therapists within the team.
- Contribute to service development through initiatives such as care pathway development and acting as a locality or school cluster lead.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, ensuring compliance with professional, regulatory and organisational standards.
- Travel across Hampshire to deliver services, with caseloads allocated predominantly within your geographical area.
What we’re looking for:
- A qualified Speech and Language Therapist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Experience of, and a strong passion for, supporting children and young people across education, NHS or community settings, with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Experience of supporting newly qualified therapists and/or students.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, confidentiality, and professional standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to build positive relationships with schools, families and professionals.
- A flexible, proactive and reflective approach, with strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, clinical excellence and reflective practice.
- Confidence using IT systems for clinical documentation, reporting and service management.
