Sports Coach with Lunchtime and After- School Club Provision
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and committed Sports Coach to join our friendly and dedicated primary school team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about inspiring children to develop a love of sport and physical activity. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality PE lessons, leading active lunchtimes, and contributing to a wide range of extra-curricular sports opportunities for pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
The successful candidate will work closely with our PE Curriculum Leader to deliver high-quality PE lessons, enrichment opportunities, and competitive sports experiences that enable all children to thrive and succeed.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding role that includes:
Leading structured sports and physical activities at lunchtimes
Delivering high-quality PE lessons across the afternoon
Planning and running a range of after-school sports clubs
Supporting pupils at inter-school competitions and local sports festivals
You will also play a key role in developing our wider sporting provision, helping to ensure that all children have access to rich and meaningful physical activity opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and high-quality PE lessons, including PPA cover where required
Plan and lead structured lunchtime sports activities, contributing to a calm and purposeful play environment
Organise and run a variety of after-school clubs and enrichment activities
Support participation in inter-school competitions and School Games events
Work with the PE Leader to organise Sports Day and maintain our School Games Mark status
Develop links with local schools and external organisations to enhance opportunities for pupils
Broaden the range of sports and activities offered to pupils
Provide support and, where appropriate, training to staff to develop confidence in PE delivery
Supervise pupils on trips, including residential visits where required
We are looking for someone who is:
A skilled and enthusiastic sports coach with a passion for working with children

Confident leading sports activities both within school and at external events
Demonstrates resilience and reflection with the aim of enhancing their own capabilities so that our pupils receive the best possible education
Encourages pupils to show initiative, take risks with their learning and challenge themselves
Will plan to meet the strengths and areas for development of all children, including those with SEND or who are disadvantaged
Have some experience of managing challenging behaviour
Is prepared to become fully involved in the life of our school and community
Is flexible and can respond to the changing needs of the school and its pupils on a daily basis
Essential Requirements
Level 2 coaching qualification (or above)
Good IT skills, including confidence in using digital tools for planning, communication, and record-keeping
A good standard of English and mathematics (equivalent to GCSE Grade C/4 or above)
Experience of working with children in a school or sports setting
Desirable
First Aid qualification
Full driving licence and willingness to undertake MIDAS (minibus) training

Hours and Contract Details
25 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Working hours: 11:30am – 4:30pm
Term time only (39 weeks per year)
Grade D (5 hours per day)
Fixed-term contract for one year in the first instance
FTE salary £27,780 - £30564
Actual Salary pro rata £16049 - £17657
