Teacher of English

Job Introduction

The School

Calthorpe Park School is a highly successful place to learn and grow. The school’s recent growth has created many ongoing opportunities for staff to develop, enhance and advance their careers within the same institution. We pride ourselves on the excellence of our exam results but our ethos is to support all students to have the opportunity to succeed and the experience of success in a culture of care and consideration; challenge and commitment; respect and responsibility; integrity and impression.

These four are the tenets of ‘The Calthorpe Way’. We aim to educate the whole child for the whole of their life: no ceilings or parameters; aspiring to excellence in everything we do.

Job/Person Summary

We wish to appoint a dynamic and committed Teacher of English to join our Calthorpe community. As a teacher at CPS, you must be an excellent classroom practitioner with student learning and engagement at the core of your principles. You will also be able to inspire and enthuse our young people in their knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the English curriculum. This post could be suitable for an ECT or a more experienced colleague. Start date; 1 January 2025 (or earlier if available).

In December 2022 OfSTED concluded that:

English is a particular strength. Staff know their subjects well. They plan activities that build on what pupils have been taught before and check carefully that important knowledge has been remembered. Pupils take pride in their work, and many work studiously in class and on home learning projects.’

‘Leaders are ambitious for all pupils to achieve well and develop into well-rounded individuals. Pupils enjoy learning the challenging curriculum.

‘Pupils learn well across the curriculum and are well prepared for the next steps in their education.’

‘Pupils are safe and trust staff to help them if they are worried about anything.’

‘The promotion of mental health is a high priority in the school.’

We invite you for a tour of the school to get to know our inspiring students and to join our inspirational staff.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date if we receive applications that meet the criteria.

We welcome flexible working.
