Teacher of Mathematics - MPR/UPR

 

September 2026 (July start for ECTs)

 

We are seeking an outstanding Teacher of Mathematics to join our thriving Maths department, who are all Maths specialists, and contribute to high quality learning and excellent progress across Key Stages 3 and 4. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and creative educator with a strong subject knowledge to inspire students and contribute to a forward thinking and ambitious curriculum.

 

Alderwood Senior School is a rapidly improving, high performing school, achieving GCSE results above the national average. Behaviour across the school is very good, with Ofsted describing it as “very settled and calm”.

 

Main Purpose

  • Deliver high quality teaching and learning in Mathematics across KS3 and KS4
  • Contribute to raising standards of student attainment and progress within the subject area
  • Promote a positive attitude to learning and actively support the school’s ethos and values

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons that meet the needs of all students
  • Assess, monitor and report on students’ progress in line with school policies
  • Maintain a well ordered, safe and stimulating classroom environment
  • Set high expectations that inspire, motivate and challenge students
  • Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all students, including those with SEND
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extra curricular activities and school events
  • Engage fully in professional development opportunities and attend staff meetings as required
  • Uphold and promote the school’s policies, including safeguarding and behaviour
