Job Introduction
What makes Noadswood a terrific community to be part of? Is it:
- Quality specialist teachers across a rich and varied curriculum, and a super record in academic outcomes, Dance, Performing Arts, Poetry and Sport?
- Our House system, giving young people membership of a smaller community within the school?
- Our drive for the best possible progress for all through research based teaching and learning?
- The way we listen to our students' and colleagues’ ideas for their wellbeing and their community, and bring them all to life?
- The care we have for our parent community, and their suggestions, views and concerns?
It's because of ALL of the above but overarching all of this, it's because we are a warm, welcoming school. We are passionate about educational excellence and to sustaining an honest, kind, inclusive community - we are strongly united on our very best days, at challenging times and at all points in between.
Required from September 2025
We are looking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, and innovative teacher of Science to join our highly successful team whose shared purpose is to inspire and challenge the young people at Noadswood. The team is hugely collaborative and supportive of one another; it is commonplace to share resources and strategies freely; you would be welcomed warmly into a very special team which looks after each other and the students, and which is exceptionally well organised, resourced and always keen to reflect and develop. Little wonder their outcomes are strong and the enthusiasm of the students for the study of science is palpable!
The study of Science is at the heart of the curriculum and we are looking to appoint a candidate who has the ability to ensure learners of all abilities make progress, achieve their full potential and develop a lifelong appreciation of these subjects. We are proud of the specialisms of each of the members of our team, and your specialisms will add to those, along with your adeptness across all three of the science disciplines, across both key stages and with all abilities – adaptive, exciting teaching is the hallmark of the department.
As Assistant Head of Department, in addition to being a role model to the team in terms of your own practice, the Subject Leader will look to you to: Lead on transition, including transition events and promoting links with feeder schools. Lead on delivery, assessment and collaborative development of the key stage 3 curriculum (years 7 and 8). Be in the forefront of supporting and encouraging the spirit of collaboration and teamwork we are so proud of as a department, and to demonstrate commitment to continually driving outcomes forward.
You would become part of the wider Noadswood family effortlessly, too, because of how authentically welcoming and supportive we are, something commented on by all candidates and visitors alike. We believe in steadiness, mutual support and openness, helping us navigate the exciting times and also the challenging times in this profession together. You will benefit from our commitment to your induction and a rich professional development programme that will offer you bespoke opportunities along with department, whole school and collaborative CPD with schools across our local area.
Confirmed a Good school in its Ofsted inspection in October 2022, Noadswood is crucially a steady, welcoming, reflective and caring Trust, that is research informed, passionate about its adults and tireless on behalf of all our youngsters. We are excited to have you join us to help this very special department and school to continue to go from strength to strength, adding your enthusiasm and care for young people to the mix.
If you have that same energy, enthusiasm and commitment to young people and their progress, needed now more than ever in this profession, we are positive you will fit in to our school. You can contact us by email: recruitment@noadswood.hants.sch.uk to discuss this post, arrange a visit or a chat with subject leader, Sue Fry, and/or Headteacher, Kathryn Marshall.
