Alverstoke C of E Junior school is a vibrant, happy school with a passion for inclusion. Our latest ‘Good’ Ofsted Inspection (September 2022) reported on our very many strengths, including our high expectations, respectful and hard-working pupils and our commitment to professional development and care for staff.  We are an ambitious, highly committed, close knit-team; it is an exciting, warm and supportive place to work.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our team so that we can further enhance our provision for pupils with SEN and those who need additional support.

The role includes one-to-one support for children with an Education, Health Care Plan, classroom support across the curriculum and specific intervention work with individuals and groups of children to support their IEPs.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is able to work well as part of a team

Ideally, applicants will:

  • Have experience of supporting children to manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour
  • Have experience of working with children with a range of Special Educational Needs in an educational setting
  • Have experience of delivering interventions to support literacy and numeracy skills

However, we have a very experienced SENCO and fantastic TA team who can provide excellent training for someone with less experience.

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Work with an individual or small group of children under the direction of the class teacher and SENDCo
  • Assist in ensuring pupils stay on task and complete learning tasks set by the teacher
  • Provide support to manage children’s social and emotional needs in conjunction with the class teacher
  • Provide feedback to the children in conjunction with the class teacher
  • Plan and deliver interventions to support the children in making rapid progress
  • Have a good understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality
  • Keep accurate records

Interviews will take place on Thursday 13th November 2025
