ROLE: Teaching Assistant (Pre-school/EYFS Phase with opportunities to develop skills to support across primary range)

SCHOOL: Westover Primary School

HOURS: 8.30am to 5.30pm Monday – Friday, including afterschool club, term time only (39 weeks)

CONTRACT: Permanent

SALARY: Salary Band 4 - £24,420 to £25,652 FTE

CLOSING DATE: Thursday 28th November 2024 at noon

START DATE: December 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Teaching Assistant to join our newly expanded EYFS phase which from September 24 includes a Pre School. We are seeking to recruit a dynamic individual to help us create a centre of excellence for our youngest pupils. We are looking for a nurturing and highly skilled individual to join a fun and vibrant team. The hours include classroom support from 8.30 to 3pm plus 2.5 hours (3pm to 5.30) leading pre-school children in after school club, this role will be paid on PCC Band 4. You will also have the opportunity to experience working in other year groups.

We are part of Hamwic Education Trust. HET is a large, fast-paced Trust with currently 37 academies across the South Coast.  Linked to 6 community-based partnerships, there are 34 primary academies, 2 secondary and 1 hospital school.

JOB/PERSON SUMMARY:

If you have a positive attitude and commitment to supporting children's learning and behaviour, together with previous experience of supporting children within a school or pre-school setting (either through paid work or work placement), then this could be the job for you.  Candidates must be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in supporting teaching and learning in schools (or similar) and have a good standard of literacy and numeracy skills. You will work in close partnership with the class teacher to enhance learning opportunities and you will be required to provide accurate records and daily feedback.

  • Have good communication skills – both verbal and written
  • Be caring, understanding and patient and most of all fun
  • Be able to problem solve in the best interest of the child
  • Be able to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times
  • Be willing to undertake training opportunities


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL NEED TO BE ABLE TO: 

  • Keep accurate records and feedback to parent carers effectively
  • Complete a small amount of administration, record keeping and effectively feedback to parents
  • First aid for pupils (training will be provided)
  • Fulfil all safeguarding requirements
  • Plan set up and clear away play sessions
  • Carry out risk assessments
  • Prepare light snacks and have a good understanding of hygiene (training provided)
  • Be fully inclusive and willing to learn and undertake taking to meet the needs of pupils
  • Have an approved level 3 qualifications for preschool age
