Teaching Assistant (Temporary, Full or Part Time)

Job Introduction

Oliver’s Battery Primary & Nursery School is a happy primary and nursery school on the outskirts of Winchester. Our pupils are the stars of the show: enthusiastic, kind children who enjoy learning. Parental support is strong and our Governing Body plays an active role in the life of the school.

This is an exciting time to join us. We have a strong team of like-minded teachers and support staff who share a determination to provide a successful, safe and caring school where every child can thrive. Our recent Ofsted inspection noted that ‘Pupils are excited to learn’ and that ‘pupils show respect through the polite and courteous way in which they behave towards each other.’

We are looking for a capable and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant who has initiative, compassion, flexibility and a good sense of humour. The post is temporary until 31st July 2027 as it is based on the needs of the pupils currently in the school. You will be working either in class with groups and/or with children on a 1:1 basis depending on your skill and experiences.

Above all, we want someone who enjoys working with children, helping them to grow as learners and citizens. We are committed to our staff professionally and personally, and we prioritise high-quality CPD and wellbeing.

The closing date is 12 noon on Monday 2nd November 2026. Shortlisting will take place on the same day and interviews are planned for Wednesday 4th November 2026. We reserve the right to close the vacancy early, so early applications are encouraged.

If you would like an informal conversation about the post, please telephone the school and ask to speak to Ms Sarah Vittle, Headteacher (01962869496). We very much look forward to hearing from you.

Please email your completed application forms to: s.sleeman@oliversbattery.hants.sch.uk (Mr Simon Sleeman, School and Nursery Business Manager).
