Teaching Assistant - to provide 1:1 support for a child with complex learning needs

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Teaching Assistant 1:1 to join our team in making a difference to the lives of young people. We have created this post to support pupils with complex SEND needs and will be looking for someone who can start in September. This post offers an opportunity to work in a friendly and supportive school, with plenty of professional development opportunities and the chance to work with a dedicated staff team and wonderful children.

We are looking for someone who

  • Has an understanding and experience of challenging behaviour and is able to support pupils with emotional needs
  • Is able to demonstrate a commitment to enabling children to achieve their best
  • Is able to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with children and families
  • Has a warm personality and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Has an ability to work independently and with initiative
  • Has an ability to keep succinct records of involvement
  • Is patient and flexible
  • Understands confidentiality
  • Enjoys learning
  • Is a committed team member, willing to support and learn from colleagues
  • Is able to work closely and effectively with the Class Teacher and SENDCo
  • Has high expectations and is able to work confidently and effectively with children

 In addition to the above criteria, the following are desirable :

  • Minimum of Grade C at GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Experience of working in supporting children at nursery or EYFS provision
  • An understanding of the expectations of the EYFS and KS1 curriculum to enable children to make progress
  • Experience of working with pupils with complex learning needs – in particular with links to communication & interaction and social, emotional and mental health needs 

Hours: 8.30am - 3.00pm Monday to Friday (29 hours per week)

Contract: Term Time only 39 weeks per year, fixed term until August 2027

Salary: Grade C, Pro rata of £24,405 - 25,430 (£16,362 - £17,049) pa
