Teaching Assistant Vacancy – Bishop’s Waltham Junior School

Bishop’s Waltham Junior School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, resourceful and conscientious Teaching Assistant who will join our team and make a real impact within the classroom.

This is a one-year fixed term role, working five mornings per week, alongside four lunchtime duties (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday).

The successful candidate will work across both Year 3 and Year 5, supporting learning in a range of contexts. The role will include a combination of 1:1 support for pupils with an EHCP, as well as providing class-based Teaching Assistant support to enhance teaching and learning more widely.

The role will involve working in close partnership with class teachers to support pupils’ learning and development, including contributing to assessment and reviewing pupil progress. In addition, the successful candidate will work closely with our SENDCo and teaching staff to support the preparation and delivery of targeted intervention programmes.


We are looking to appoint a candidate who has:

• A kind, caring and supportive nature

• Competent levels of English and maths
• Previous experience of working with pupils with SEN (desirable but not essential)
• Good time management and organisational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• A positive mindset, energy and enthusiasm
• Effective communication skills (including liaising closely with parents)
