Waterside Primary School is situated on the edge of the New Forest within the town of Hythe. We are a small one form entry school who pride ourselves in understanding the needs of individual children in our care. Developing professional relationships with our children and their families in order to ensure the child has positive experiences in school in order for them to become the ‘best they can be’ is part of our ethos.
We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, friendly, caring and inquisitive person to fulfil the role of Teaching Assistant in our reception class. You will be working closely with the current reception class team to provide positive behaviour management, support the children’s social and emotional needs as well as their academic needs. This role will also include specific medical support for which training will be given. Ideally you will have experience of working in a language rich environment to be able to support children to develop their communication skills using a variety of strategies.
We wish to appoint someone who:
- Is committed to supporting individual children’s learning
- Be able to support children in groups, in a 1:1 capacity as well as within a whole class setting
- Be able to support with creative learning that is tailored to meet the needs of an individual from their starting point
- Be able to recognise and build on the strengths of all children whilst nurturing their well-being.
- Understands how children learn through play
- Has good interpersonal and communication skills
