Job Introduction
We are looking to employ an outstanding teaching assistant to work across the school and key stages. This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience across the age ranges in Primary education. 20 Hours per week
8.30 to 12.30 five days a week (extra hours available including breakfast club slots)
Responsibilities
- Working with individual or groups of children, assist in ensuring pupils are kept on task and complete activities set by teachers
- Deal with behavioural and special needs issues in conjunction with the teacher
- Help implement lesson plans
- Provide feedback to pupils without reference to the teacher
- Take small class of small group of pupils for defined activities e.g. reading, in the presence of a class teacher
- Contribute with teacher to lesson contents and aims
- Support and work with teacher in testing / assessment
- Carry specific specialist responsibility and support other staff in this area when needed
- In conjunction with teacher, liaise with parents on pupil progress
- Maintain an awareness of school, national and statutory policies and requirements and apply these in the workplace
We are looking for someone who has the following attributes:
- Experience of working with children across the key stages, preferably working in a school setting
- An ability to use ICT effectively to support learning
- Good communication skills and able to clarify and explain instructions clearly
- Excellent literacy/numeracy skills. Must have GCSE English and Maths or equivalent.
- Strong Team Player
- Someone who is kind, patient, cheerful, enthusiastic and flexible
- Understands the importance of confidentiality in a school and maintains high levels of confidentiality
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding, reporting all concerns in line with school policy and always putting the needs of the children first
- Has high expectations of achievement and behaviour
