Job Introduction
Hatch Warren Junior is a three-form entry school which serves the Hatch Warren area of Basingstoke. We are looking to appoint two Learning Support Assistants to join our supportive and hardworking team to work on a one to one basis with a child in class and supporting a specific children in a group situation in class.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
• Maintain a high level of support for the child's needs
• Implement learning activities to enable the child to have access to the planned curriculum
• Help the child to develop social skills and appropriate interactions with peers.
• Have a willingness to learn new skills
• Have the ability to support the development of the child's social and self-help skills
• Use a variety of positive behaviour management strategies to a positive effect
• Work closely with and be accountable to the class teacher, who will give guidance on the nature and extent of the support and supervision
• Plan and review regularly with the class teacher
• Meet regularly with the SENCo and contribute to Individual Education Plans / EHCPs.

• Possesses excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Has appropriate levels of literacy and numeracy to work in a Junior school
• Is able to work effectively as part of a successful team, show initiative and be flexible at all times
• Has a caring, compassionate and conscientious disposition
• Shows resilience and determination
Desirable:
- Experience of working with primary aged children
- Have an understanding or expertise about pupils with SEND and the barriers to learning that some children may have and strategies that could be used to support children to overcome these.
- Experience of delivering a range of interventions and completing assessments
