Job Introduction
We are seeking a skilled Upper Key stage 2 teacher who is passionate about supporting children to achieve their best outcomes, recognising that we are preparing our pupils to flourish in their next step of education and ultimately becoming lifelong learners.
Redlands Primary is a successful, friendly school within a supportive community. We are a mid-sized primary school – 315 pupils, which is extremely popular in the area.
We have 11 classes at Redlands which includes 2 discrete Year R classes and the rest of the school is in mixed year groups. We are proud of our pupils’ passion for reading and encourage all pupils and staff to see themselves as lifelong learners. Our pupils talk animatedly about the wider curriculum and leadership opportunities they have, including our music provision, playing in the band, visits to forest school in year R and a very active school council. We are an inclusive school, working hard to ensure children from ALL backgrounds achieve to their highest potential.
What are we looking for?
A passionate primary teacher, with high expectations alongside the ability to build strong relationships with pupils and adults.
An inclusive practitioner who is skilled in tailoring the curriculum to engage and meet the needs of all groups of pupils within a mainstream class.
A skilled colleague with a strong current knowledge and awareness of the standards and expectations of the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
What skills and experience are we looking for?
You will:
- Recognise that high standards and achievement for ALL pupils, helps them to flourish as young people.
- Demonstrate a clear grasp of assessment for learning and the ability to use this to adapt planning and teaching in the moment.
- Be a strong teacher with excellent classroom management, understanding that behaviour communicates a message and that an engaging curriculum helps children to be inspired to be their best.
- Motivate and inspire the learners in your class, creating a culture of flexible groupings, split inputs and active participation throughout your teaching sessions.
- Be a reflective practitioner willing to engage in a coaching and mentoring model with supportive colleagues.
- Support colleagues to develop, by recognising and sharing good practice.
- Model and expect a strong safeguarding culture throughout school.
- Confidently engage with all stakeholders including parents', governors and our extra-curricular providers to ensure the best care and outcomes for our pupils.
- Lead an area of the curriculum/subject tailored to your strengths and interests.
