St John the Baptist Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint a Deputy for our Wrap around club, Little Johns, this role will involve working with pupils with SEND and / or medical needs
We require an enthusiastic person to join our friendly and hardworking school. We have successfully grown our Breakfast and After School Club since taking our wraparound care provision in house. It is a very popular club with both our parents and pupils and regularly has 25-30 children attending sessions. Little Johns provides our parents/carers with reasonably priced, convenient child-care and our children with a safe, kind and play centred team and environment. Little Johns is more than a childcare facility though – it is at the centre of our school ethos and our staff promote our values, maintain high standards of behaviour and help our children to be courageous, compassionate and creative learners in their play
The post will be part time from with a 39 working week contract
Breakfast Club: 7.15am – 8.45am
After School Club: 3.00pm – 5.45pm
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate that they have a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, patience, be able to work as part of a team, have excellent interpersonal skills and enjoy working with children.

- have a good standard of spoken and written English
- be well organised and able to manage the bookings and communications with parents/carers
- be a person who articulates their vision for play
- be able to develop and support colleagues
- be confident using email and other basic systems to record and report
- understand the difference that good quality play makes to a child’s life
- lead by example in nurturing and supporting children to explore and be confident communicators
- communicate well with children and adults
- promote the club to our parents/ carers and prospective parents to ‘grow the business’
- show that they are a team player
- take a pride in what they do and maintain high standards in the provision
- demonstrate their understanding of child protection and safeguarding issues
- be able to manage, with relevant training if required, the safe purchase, storage and preparation of food
- be a paediatric trained first aider, or happy to undertake the training and take responsibility for first aid in the provision
- be a person who wants to further grow and develop what we offer the children
- demonstrate that they live by our school values, courage, compassion and creativity
Your duties will include:
- Ensuring that our children can develop personally, socially and educationally
- Providing a safe, caring and challenging environment for the children
- Dealing with any concerns raised and supporting children to behave well at all times
- Helping to plan the day to day running of the provision ensuring that the service meets the care, play and educational needs of the children effectively
- Maintaining accurate and appropriate records of attendance, fees and other relevant service documentation
- Preparing reports as required by the school or outside agencies
- Coordinating the use of facilities and equipment ensuring that they meet all safety requirements
- Overseeing the safe storage of equipment and materials
- Maintaining correct procedures for Child Protection and Health and Safety matters
- Liaising with parents, colleagues and outside agencies
- Promoting the club to our parents and prospective parents
