We are looking for a 1:1 Learning Support Assistants (LSA) to support one of our children with additional needs, from September 2026. This position is full time and hours are typically: 8:30am - 3:15pm or 8:45am - 3:30pm.
The role is to support this child within school who has an EHCPs and who needs extra provision in school to support them with their learning.
The 1:1 Learning Support Assistant will work closely with the child’s class teacher and our Assistant Headteachers to ensure that the provision for pupil is in line with the other children’s and that their needs are catered for.
No two days are the same, but on a typical day you will:
- meet and greet the child/ren to ensure that the transition from home to school is positive;
- make the child/ren feel safe, happy and cared for at school;
- follow the child/ren’s Three Point Behaviour Plan so that they are treated consistently by all members of staff;
- adapt the teacher’s plan to cater for the needs of the pupil/s in your care;
- communicate with the parent/carer when the child/ren is/are collected;
- provide specialist care;
- support at lunchtimes with ensuring positive behaviour both in the school hall and outside on the playground;
- make a difference in the lives of our children at Merton
